This new series transfers gay liberation newspapers from the 1960s–80s onto large-format canvases, incorporating mixed media and self-portraits of the artist. These newspapers were more than just sources of information - they were lifelines for small queer communities, documenting political events, activism, and the spaces where individuals found solidarity in a world that often sought to erase them.
Despite suppression, these papers captured both the struggles and the resilience of LGBTQ+ communities, balancing horrific accounts of violence with moments of joy, humour, and unity. By integrating self-portraiture, this series bridges past and present, confronting this history while affirming the continued need for community, safe spaces, and equality
